First Nations & Westwood Fibre Ltd.

Westwood Fibre and the First Nations of British Columbia have worked together for over 20 years. We support the First Nations in their efforts to develop opportunites in their forest resources.

For instance, we worked with the Stuwix Resources Joint Venture, a group of seven First Nations communities. Westwood Fibre helped them develop their own forest management system that enables them to handle all aspects associated with caring for their forests, including silviculture, harvesting and marketing. It also included mapping, permit applications, logging contractor hiring, marketing and mill contracts, payment processing and accounting. Our goal was to assist the Stuwix in their goal of becoming independent forest managers providing employment and economic benefits.
